LEXINGTON, Ky. — A 16-year-old has been charged with first-degree assault in connection with a shooting that left a 15-year-old victim seriously injured on Maywick Drive this week, according to the Lexington Police Department.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Maywick Drive around 5:40 p.m. on February 18, 2026, after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, police found the 15-year-old victim with a gunshot wound and transported the individual to a local hospital with serious injuries. During the investigation, shell casings were located in the area of Appomattox Road and Maywick Drive.

The 16-year-old suspect was taken into custody on February 19, 2026, and charged with first-degree assault. The juvenile is currently being held at the Fayette Regional Juvenile Detention Center, a high-security facility operated by the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice.
