I heard that someone was arrested after causing an explosion at a house somewhere in Lexington. Do we know what neighborhood this happened in, and should residents be concerned about safety?

Yeah, that happened about two weeks ago on Orlean Circle, in the seven hundred block. That's off Alumni Drive on the south side. The man arrested is Jonathan Huff, and he was actually one of the residents of the house that caught fire. He suffered severe burns to his hands and back in the incident.

So this wasn't someone from outside the neighborhood coming in and causing trouble?

No, exactly. Witnesses heard two explosions before the fire started, and they saw Huff running from the house carrying a black bag. The good news for neighbors is that officials say there's no current threat to the community. The A-T-F and Lexington Police worked together on this, and Huff is facing federal charges for illegal possession of firearms as a convicted felon.

Have neighbors been dealing with this kind of thing for a while?

Actually, yes. Neighbors say they've been complaining about hearing explosions off and on from that area since October. So it sounds like this was an ongoing situation that finally came to a head. The investigation involved multiple agencies including the F-B-I, A-T-F, and our local Hazardous Devices Unit, so they're taking it seriously. But with the suspect in custody, that particular concern for the Orlean Circle area should be resolved.
