We've got a question coming in from @KentuckyNativeGardens on YouTube, asking where Gatton Park is located in Lexington. I've heard it mentioned around town but I'm honestly not sure exactly where it sits.

Gatton Park is at seven ninety-five Manchester Street, right in the heart of downtown. It's located right next to Rupp Arena, so if you know where the arena is, you can't miss it. It's a twelve-acre green space that was built over what used to be an asphalt parking lot.

Oh wow, so this is a pretty new addition to downtown then?

Exactly! It officially opened this past Saturday after over a decade of planning and two years of construction. What's really cool about it is that they reopened a waterway that had been covered for decades - that's the Town Branch Creek that flows right through the park. The site now features over four hundred fifty trees and thousands of native plantings, plus there's an adventure playground, amphitheater, and even a dog park.

That sounds like quite the transformation from a parking lot to a full park experience.

It really is. The park is open daily from six a.m. to ten p.m., and it connects over twenty-two miles of bike and pedestrian paths that link downtown to the rest of Lexington. If you're heading there, Manchester Street is your best bet for finding it.
