Hey, we've got a question from @FoxysTVTime on YouTube who wants to know who is running for council at large this year.

That's a great question. The three Council At Large seats are citywide positions, meaning all Lexington voters cast ballots for these races. What's interesting about this year is that six candidates are running for the three seats, which means this race won't have a primary and will go straight to the November general election, where voters can select up to three candidates.

So we get to vote for three people out of six? That's pretty straightforward.

Exactly. And you know, this is part of what's shaping up to be a really big year for change on the council. Seven council incumbents are not running for re-election, including many council veterans. So Lexington voters will see lots of new faces on the ballot this year.

Wow, that's a lot of turnover. So when do we vote on these at large seats?

All the at large candidates will be on the November third general election ballot. And since there's no primary for these seats, voters have plenty of time to get to know all six candidates before making their choices. The filing deadline already passed back in January, so the field is set.

That gives people time to really research who they want representing the whole city.

Absolutely. And remember, with at large seats, these council members represent everyone in Lexington, not just specific districts. So it's worth paying attention to how their platforms address citywide issues.
