LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Asphalt Institute has appointed Tamara Davis as vice president of marketing and membership, bringing more than two decades of experience in broadcast journalism, public relations and strategic communications to the international trade association headquartered here.
Davis joins from PriceWeber, a Louisville-based advertising and marketing agency, where she served as senior vice president of public relations and social media. At PriceWeber, she led strategic communications, media relations and social media initiatives for clients across multiple industries, with projects earning recognition from the Public Relations Society of America, Telly Awards, PRWeek, PRNEWS and PR Daily.
Before transitioning to public relations and marketing, Davis worked as a television news anchor and reporter at stations throughout Kentucky, including WDRB News in Louisville, WKYT in Lexington and WBKO in Bowling Green. Her journalism career included honors from the Kentucky Associated Press, the Society of Professional Journalists and a regional Edward R. Murrow Award.
In her new role at the Asphalt Institute, Davis will oversee brand strategy, communications, media relations, events and member engagement and recruitment. She will also collaborate with association leadership and member committees on initiatives supporting asphalt producers, manufacturers and affiliated businesses worldwide.
"Tamara brings a unique combination of journalism, public relations and marketing experience that will help us strengthen how we communicate the value of the Asphalt Institute and engage with our members," said Reed Ryan, Asphalt Institute president.
The Asphalt Institute, founded in 1919, represents asphalt producers, manufacturers and affiliated businesses globally, representing more than 90 percent of liquid asphalt produced in North America. The organization advances the industry through research, engineering services, education and professional certification programs.
