Gov. Andy Beshear announced Wednesday that Averitt Express will invest up to $113 million to build a regional campus in Bullitt County, a significant expansion for the distribution and supply chain leader serving customers across North America and internationally.

The investment will add 64 new jobs while retaining 182 existing positions at Averitt's current Louisville plant. Bullitt County, located just south of Louisville, has emerged as a key logistics hub in recent years, attracting major distribution operations due to its proximity to transportation infrastructure and regional distribution networks.

Averitt Express provides freight transportation and supply chain management services with operations spanning more than 40 distribution and fulfillment centers across the United States. The Louisville-based company has been expanding its footprint to support growing logistics demand in the region, particularly from major industries including bourbon production and automotive manufacturing.

The Bullitt County campus announcement comes as Averitt has been securing necessary permits for a new terminal facility on the northwest quadrant of the Interstate 65 and Brooks Road interchange. The company recently received approvals from the Bullitt County Board of Adjustments and the Bullitt County Joint Planning Commission to move forward with the project.

Bullitt County has become increasingly attractive for distribution companies seeking strategic locations between America's heartland and the Eastern United States. In recent years, the county has attracted numerous logistics and e-commerce operations, complementing its established bourbon industry presence.
