LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Board of Architectural Review is scheduled to consider 46 projects across eight historic districts on July 22, according to the meeting agenda. The projects include roof replacements, window repairs, structural renovations and site work ranging from small maintenance tasks to major construction efforts.

The board reviews applications for exterior changes to properties located in local historic districts and issues Certificates of Appropriateness permits, which are required before work can begin. The projects span historic districts including Ashland Park, Aylesford, Bell Court, Elsmere Park, Northside, Pensacola Park, Seven Parks and Western Suburbs.

The agenda separates items into three categories. Staff approvals comprise the bulk of the meeting, with 37 items already reviewed by city preservation staff. These include routine maintenance projects such as tree removal at 160 East Bell Court and roof work at 735 West Main Street. The Aylesford Historic District accounts for the most staff-approval items with 11 projects, including window repairs and driveway renovations at multiple properties.

The board will also consider eight Certificates of Appropriateness applications requiring fuller review, including proposals to demolish and reconstruct a fire-damaged structure at 371 Linden Walk in Aylesford and construct a rear addition at 452 West Third Street in the Northside Historic District. Additional applications involve installing fencing, constructing garages and making modifications to existing structures.

One item is listed for conceptual review: a proposed addition and site work at 533 East Main Street in the Bell Court Historic District. The board typically meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Government Center, 200 E. Main St.
