The closure is scheduled to run from April 20th through April 25th to accommodate a Norfolk Southern railway project in the area. During this six-day period, the intersection where Waller Avenue meets the railroad tracks will be completely inaccessible to vehicle traffic. City officials are directing motorists to use Virginia Avenue as the recommended detour route while the rail work is underway. The closure affects only the railroad crossing portion of Waller Avenue, so residents and businesses along other sections of the street should still have normal access. Drivers who regularly use this route for their daily commute will want to add extra travel time and familiarize themselves with the Virginia Avenue alternative before the closure begins on Monday.
