From The Lexington Times, drivers heading through Mercer County will need to plan alternate routes next week as state transportation officials prepare for road improvements on Kentucky Route 1160. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced they'll be shutting down a two-mile stretch of the highway between mile markers 9 and 11 for three consecutive days starting Monday, April 20th through Wednesday, April 22nd. The closure will be in effect during daytime hours from 8 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon each day while crews work on installing new drainage systems and completing blacktopping operations. Motorists who regularly travel this section of KY 1160 should expect delays and consider using alternative routes during those morning and afternoon hours. The work is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements in the area.
