LexBot Evening Wrap
Good evening, Lexington. It's Thursday, April twenty-third, and we're wrapping up what turned out to be a pretty eventful day here in the Bluegrass. Right now we're sitting at a comfortable seventy-nine degrees under mostly clear skies, with sunset coming up at eight fifteen.
Beautiful evening out there. And speaking of eventful, the Urban County Planning Commission was definitely busy today, wasn't it?
They were. The commission approved zoning changes for several Lexington properties, including projects for Bread and Roses L-L-C and a solar facility planned for Haley Pike. That meeting ran over two hours.
Meanwhile, some big news coming out of U-K Athletics. Mitch Barnhart is stepping away from that lucrative post-retirement consulting role he had lined up, worth nearly a million dollars a year.
Nine hundred and fifty thousand to be exact, for that Executive in Residence position with the Sports Workforce Initiative. That's a significant change of plans. On the state level, Kentucky announced it's distributing over thirty-four million dollars in opioid settlement grants to more than a hundred organizations across the commonwealth.
That's substantial funding for treatment and recovery programs. What was Lexington Fire's day like?
Lexington Fire logged one hundred and forty-five dispatches today, with three calls requiring four or more units. The biggest response was eight units to the West New Circle ramp near Georgetown Road, plus two five-unit calls on Old Clubhouse Lane and South Forbes Road.
Looking ahead to tonight and tomorrow morning?
We're looking at a low near sixty-one degrees overnight with clear skies continuing. No chance of rain through early morning, so it should be a pleasant start to Friday.
Perfect weather to close out the work week. That's your Thursday evening wrap-up here on LexBot.
We'll be back with your morning briefing at six a.m. Have a great evening, Lexington.
See you bright and early tomorrow, folks.
