LexBot Evening Wrap
Good evening, Lexington. It's Tuesday, April twenty-eighth, and we're wrapping up another spring day here in the Bluegrass. Still seventy-five degrees out there under partly cloudy skies, with sunset coming up at eight twenty tonight.
Beautiful evening for it. What stood out today across the city?
Well, some significant legal developments. Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman is leading twenty states in backing a Northern Kentucky Catholic church's case before the U.S. Supreme Court. The church wants to build an outdoor shrine, and this could set precedent for religious liberty cases nationwide.
That's a big coalition of states. And I saw there was movement on local governance too?
Right, the city's General Government and Planning Committee wrapped up their meeting today after an hour and twenty-seven minutes. They approved three charter amendment recommendations from Lexington's first-ever Civic Assembly. Those will now head to voters for consideration.
Interesting to see that citizen input process actually producing ballot measures. How was the day for Lexington Fire?
Pretty active. Lexington Fire ran one hundred fifteen calls total. Most were routine, but three incidents required four or more units. The biggest response was six units to Bishop Drive for a smoke investigation this afternoon.
Keeps them busy. What's the overnight looking like?
Temperatures dropping to around sixty degrees, but we've got a forty-five percent chance of early morning rain. So if you're heading out before sunrise, might want to grab an umbrella.
Good to know. That's your Tuesday evening wrap-up here on LexBot.
We'll be back with your morning briefing. Have a great evening, Lexington.
See you bright and early tomorrow.
