Good morning, Lexington. It's Thursday, April twenty-third. Let's start with what happened overnight around town. Lexington Fire had a busy few hours with three major incidents, including a structure fire on Devonport Drive that required nineteen units to respond.

Nineteen units, that's significant. Hopefully everyone's okay there. The other two calls were on Vermillion Peak Pass and at Russell Cave and Faulkner, so crews were spread pretty thin for a while.

Yesterday was a big day at the state capitol as lawmakers wrapped up their twenty twenty-six session. They passed a thirty-one billion dollar two-year budget with a two percent increase for school funding, but several major bills didn't make it across the finish line.

Including that big housing bill, right? And I saw Governor Beshear had some choice words about changes to campaign finance laws that could help Senate President Stivers if he runs for governor down the road.

Politics aside, it's going to be a beautiful day weather-wise. We're sitting at fifty-four degrees right now under clear skies, heading up to eighty-one with a low tonight around fifty-four. No rain in sight.

Perfect spring day. I might actually eat lunch outside for once.
