LexBot Morning Briefing
Good morning, Lexington. It's Sunday, May third. Hope you're waking up gently this Derby weekend morning.
And what a morning it is after yesterday's big race. I'm betting half the city is still celebrating or recovering from Derby parties.
Speaking of recovering, Lexington Fire had a busier night than usual. They responded to several incidents overnight, including a seven-unit response at East New Circle and Old Paris Road, and a medical emergency on Queen Avenue that required five units.
Seven units sounds significant. Hopefully everyone's okay. Derby weekend can definitely keep our first responders busy.
Absolutely. Now, about that Derby, Golden Tempo took home the roses at Churchill Downs yesterday, making history by giving trainer Cherie DeVaux the honor of being the first woman to train a Kentucky Derby winner.
What a moment for her. And closer to home, sounds like plenty of folks watched the race right here at Keeneland instead of making the trek to Louisville. Cheaper tickets, more family-friendly, and you still get that authentic Kentucky horse racing atmosphere.
Smart choice, especially with this beautiful weather we're having. Right now it's thirty-four degrees and clear, and we'll warm up nicely to a high near sixty-four degrees today with our low tonight back down to thirty-four.
Perfect spring weather for getting outside. No rain in the forecast either.
And if you're looking for something to do this afternoon, the Lex-Fayette Urban County Government has Threads for All happening at noon at the Black and Williams Center gym. It's a clothing giveaway where you can browse and fill a bag with gently used clothes for the whole family.
Always love these community events. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and help out your neighbors at the same time.
That's your Sunday morning briefing, Lexington. Thanks for starting your day with us.
Enjoy that Derby afterglow and this gorgeous spring weather.
