LEXINGTON, Ky. — Commerce Lexington is offering its Money Smart for Small Business program at no cost for aspiring entrepreneurs and existing small business owners, with a six-week session beginning in October, according to an announcement from the economic development organization.

The program, developed jointly by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the U.S. Small Business Administration, provides foundational training for those looking to start or improve their businesses. Classes meet Monday evenings at 5:30 p.m. and cover topics including financial management, cash flow projections and planning essential for launching a successful venture.

"We are excited to be able to continue these valuable classes at no cost to business owners and entrepreneurs across our community and region," said Tyrone Tyra, Commerce Lexington's Senior Vice President of Community & Minority Business Development. "The classes provide important information related to building and maintaining a successful business."

Those interested in attending can register through Commerce Lexington's website or by contacting Falon McFarland at fmcfarland@commercelexington.com. Food will be provided during classes, which are held at Commerce Lexington's first floor conference space at 330 E. Main St.

The program is designed for both prospective business owners exploring entrepreneurship and established owners seeking to refresh their financial acumen. Investing time upfront to learn necessary business fundamentals can increase the odds of success, the organization said.
