The city's Winchester Road Corridor Study is moving forward with two events this week.

First, on Tuesday, the Council's General Government and Planning Committee will review the project's status. Later in the week, the public can offer feedback and learn more at an open house.

🫵**How can you get involved?**
The Winchester Road Corridor Study open house will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 10th, at the Charles Young Center Gym, 540 E. Third St. You can review the study's findings, offer input, and help design the future of the corridor.

According to materials for the September 8th committee meeting, a corridor study “analyzes the relationship between a transportation route and its surrounding land use. [It] identifies transportation deficiencies, future needs, and provides a prioritized list of multi-modal improvements.” As Winchester Road continues growing, Council wants to ensure that it is doing so with purpose.

The study outlines the initiatives as transforming the corridor into a more safe, vibrant, and connected community space. The presentation lists the goals and outcomes of the project as:

- Improving traffic safety
- Encouraging mixed-use and pedestrian-oriented development
- Maintaining mobility for all modes of transportation
- Identifying opportunities for infill and potential catalytic sites
- Achieving meaningful engagement with stakeholders and the local community
- Developing a cohesive sense of place

The Winchester Road transformation project is currently in Phase 2 of 3.

According to the [project’s website](https://wspengages.com/winchesterroad?ref=news.civiclex.org), after gathering community feedback in Phase 1 this spring, the project is now turning those priorities into concepts and design standards, a phase set to end in October. The final phase will run through winter and spring 2027 to refine these designs and create an implementation plan.
