LEXINGTON, Ky. — Grammy Award-winning country music legend Crystal Gayle returned to her Kentucky roots this month to film a television series celebrating acts of kindness and community connection across the state, according to The Lane Report.

Gayle, born in Paintsville and a member of the Grand Ole Opry, joined producers Monty Hobbs and Valerie Smaldone of Just Do GOOD Entertainment for a week of filming in Winchester and Lexington. The episodes, titled "Finding Kindness: Kentucky Strong," spotlight local businesses, nonprofits and individuals whose generosity strengthens their communities.

On Aug. 12, Winchester Mayor JoEllen Reed proclaimed the day "Finding Kindness Day in Winchester, Kentucky" and presented the proclamation to Smaldone and Hobbs. The production filmed at The Winchester Cafe, the Bluegrass Heritage Museum, and several other local establishments, while also featuring nonprofit organizations GreenHouse17 and The St. Angels Foundation.

"Finding Kindness" is a travel and lifestyle series focused on stories of compassion and hope. The program combines storytelling with travel experiences to highlight communities and individuals making an impact. Episodes are expected to feature exclusive interviews with Gayle, local history, regional cuisine and stories about people making a difference in their communities.

Hobbs said the region provided an ideal backdrop for the production. "Winchester and Lexington gave us a remarkable backdrop for these episodes," he said in a statement. "We are grateful to the businesses, nonprofits and neighbors who opened their doors and helped us capture the spirit of kindness that lives here."

The project gives Lexington and Winchester an opportunity to showcase their businesses and attractions to an audience beyond Kentucky. For Gayle, known for hits including "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," the production represents a homecoming that puts a national spotlight on Kentucky communities.
