LEXINGTON, Ky. — Fayette County Public Schools is accepting registrations for fall auditions in visual and performing arts for elementary and secondary students interested in the district's gifted and talented programs. Families must register by Sept. 25 to schedule an audition at their child's school, according to an announcement from FCPS.

The auditions are open to students in grades 3-12 and cover six areas: art, creative writing, dance, drama, instrumental and vocal music, and technical theatre. Auditions will be recorded at students' schools, with elementary students (grades 3-5) auditioning in October and middle and high school students (grades 6-12) in November. Results will be shared with families in December, and qualified students may receive formal GT identification and services during the 2026-27 academic year.

The district serves more than 9,000 gifted students across its schools through various programs and services. For general information about FCPS GT programs, families can visit FCPS.net/gifted, with specific details available at FCPS.net/auditions.

Students interested in the Schools for the Creative and Performing Arts (SCAPA) programs must also audition this fall to be considered for enrollment in 2027-28. SCAPA at Bluegrass serves grades 4-8 as a self-contained gifted program, while SCAPA at Lafayette offers a GT program within the high school for grades 9-12. In addition to auditions, families must complete a separate SchoolMint application during the district's magnet, gifted and talented, and specialized program application window, which runs from Nov. 2 through Jan. 29.

Information nights for both SCAPA programs are scheduled for mid-September, with SCAPA Lafayette's event on Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. and SCAPA at Bluegrass on Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. For details on the registration process and audition requirements, families should visit auditions.fcps.net.
