FRANKFORT, Ky. — Tourism in Frankfort and Franklin County generated $174.7 million in economic impact during 2025, ranking the state capital 14th among Kentucky's 120 counties and demonstrating the continued strength of the destination, according to the Lane Report.

Visitor spending in the capital city increased 6% over 2024, with tourism supporting 1,283 local jobs and producing $39.8 million in labor income. The industry contributed $13.1 million in state and local tax revenue to the community.

"These numbers reflect the tremendous value tourism brings to our community every day," said Randy Newcomb, Executive Director of Visit Frankfort. "Visitors support local businesses, restaurants, attractions, hotels, and retail establishments while creating jobs and generating tax revenue that benefits all residents."

Frankfort's performance contributed to another record-breaking year for Kentucky's tourism industry. Statewide, tourism generated $14.6 billion in economic impact, supported 96,993 jobs, and produced $3.64 billion in labor income in 2025, marking the commonwealth's fourth consecutive record year. Kentucky welcomed more than 81 million visitors in 2025, with travelers drawn to bourbon experiences, historic attractions, state parks and horse racing heritage.

Frankfort's tourism appeal includes multiple distilleries such as Buffalo Trace, Castle & Key, and Glenn's Creek, along with historic landmarks like the Kentucky State Capitol and Governor's Mansion. The city also features outdoor recreation opportunities and a vibrant downtown.

Newcomb noted that Frankfort's unique attractions continue to draw visitors regionally and nationally. "Our rich history, energetic downtown, multiple distilleries, outdoor activities, and welcoming hospitality continue to attract visitors from across the country and around the world," he said.
