FRANKFORT, Ky. — Swim With Purpose has partnered with the YMCA of Central Kentucky and the City of Frankfort Parks, Recreation and Historic Sites Department to offer free swimming and water safety education to residents, Kentucky State University students and staff, according to WUKY 91.3 FM.

The collaborative initiative aims to increase access to swimming instruction and water safety training across the community. Swim With Purpose brings together resources from both the regional YMCA branch and city recreation services to provide comprehensive programming at no cost to participants.

The program is designed to serve multiple populations in the Frankfort area, with particular emphasis on making water safety education accessible to students and employees at Kentucky State University, one of the state's historically black universities located in the capital city. By offering free lessons, the partnership seeks to address disparities in water safety knowledge and swimming ability while building confidence in aquatic environments.

Water safety education initiatives have become increasingly important in Kentucky and across the nation. Access to swimming instruction can reduce the risk of unintentional drowning, a leading cause of unintentional injury-related death, according to public health data.
