Kentucky Horse Park Commission to convene in March
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Horse Park Commission will meet Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. EST at the Kentucky Horse Park Visitor Center, located at 4089 Iron Works Pike in Lexington.
The Kentucky Horse Park, which opened in 1978, is a state-owned facility that serves as both a working horse farm and educational venue. The park welcomes over one million visitors each year and hosts major equestrian competitions.
The commission, which oversees the park's operations, holds regular meetings to address park business. The Kentucky Horse Park Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization established in 1985, works alongside the commission to improve and enhance the park. The Foundation has donated over 40 million dollars to the park, funding competition rings, barns, museum exhibits, and youth programs.
The park recently benefited from legislative attention focused on visitor safety. Senate Bill 68, sponsored by Sen. Amanda Mays Bledsoe, R-Lexington, would give park leadership the authority to remove individuals who pose a risk to the well-being of guests, staff or participants. The measure won unanimous approval from the state Senate on Friday.
