FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky lawmakers will return to Frankfort beginning June 1 for the start of the 2026 interim period, a time when legislators host committee meetings, research issues facing the state and begin to outline proposals for the next legislative session. Meetings will continue through mid-December.

The interim joint committees, which are composed of all members of a Senate standing committee and all members of a House standing committee, meet between sessions as a subcommittee of the Legislative Research Commission. Statutory and special committees may also meet during this period.

Most interim joint, statutory and special committee meetings will take place in the Capitol Annex building in Frankfort, unless otherwise noted on the full 2026 interim calendar. The calendar is subject to change.

Following a contentious 2026 regular session that ended April 15, lawmakers are expected to deliberate on several major policy areas during the interim. Previous legislative discussions have centered on education funding and school governance, data centers and power generation capacity, and immigration enforcement, among other topics.

The livestreams of committee meetings will be provided by Kentucky Educational Television (KET) and the Legislative Research Commission. Weekly updates to the legislative calendar will indicate which committees are meeting at https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/LegislativeCalendar.
