LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky's Main Street communities have reported nearly $76 million in investment and the creation of 395 new jobs during 2025, according to the Kentucky Tourism, Arts & Heritage Cabinet.
The $75.6 million total represents a combination of $23.6 million in private investments matched by $8.9 million in public investments across the state's downtown revitalization initiatives. The investment also resulted in the establishment of 72 new businesses within participating Main Street communities.
The figures underscore the continued economic activity and growth occurring in Kentucky's downtown districts as part of the state's Main Street program, which aims to revitalize historic commercial centers and support community development.
The numbers reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen Kentucky's local economies through public-private partnerships and targeted investment in downtown areas. The job creation and business growth demonstrate the program's impact on employment opportunities and entrepreneurship across the state's smaller communities and regional centers.
The Main Street program continues to serve as a catalyst for economic development in Kentucky communities, facilitating partnerships between local governments, private investors and business owners to improve downtown districts and increase economic activity.
