The Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet released preliminary county unemployment data for June, showing mixed economic conditions across the commonwealth. According to the cabinet, Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate in the state at 4.5%.

The county-level figures provide a detailed snapshot of regional employment disparities. Fayette, Scott, and Todd counties also ranked among the state's strongest employment markets, each at 4% unemployment, reflecting relatively robust job markets in central Kentucky.

The data comes as Kentucky's statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 4.7% in June from 4.5% in May, marking a slight increase in joblessness across the state. The preliminary statewide rate was also up 0.1 percentage points compared to June 2025.

Kentucky's civilian labor force stood at 2,097,681 in June, representing an increase of 616 individuals from May. Employment in the professional and business services sector fell by 1,300 jobs in June, with particular weakness in the administrative, support and waste management subsector.

The Kentucky Center for Statistics, an agency within the Education and Labor Cabinet, compiles unemployment data from federal household surveys and business establishment reports. County-level figures are not seasonally adjusted due to small sample sizes, while statewide figures use seasonal adjustments to reveal underlying economic trends.
