LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky State Police announced that two newly trained telecommunicators have been assigned to KSP Post 12 in Frankfort, following their graduation from the agency's Telecommunications Academy.

Andrew Hall and Emily Isom were among 22 graduates of the 26th KSP Telecommunications Academy class who completed 160 hours of intensive training over four weeks. The curriculum covered critical topics including emergency medical dispatch, criminal justice information systems, stress management and PTSD, legal liability and ethics.

KSP telecommunicators serve as dispatchers for state police troopers, commercial vehicle enforcement officers, conservation officers and other public safety partners across Kentucky. According to the agency, KSP telecommunicators answered nearly one million telephone calls in 2025, processing more than 532,600 requests for assistance.

"Behind every emergency response is a telecommunicator working with precision and professionalism," KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. said in a statement. "These graduates are stepping into a role that requires focus, compassion and quick decision-making."

KSP Law Enforcement Training Instructor Dacia Wood praised the latest class for their dedication. "Each of these individuals demonstrated outstanding dedication and professionalism and I have no doubt they will go on to become exceptional telecommunicators," Wood said.

Individuals interested in joining the KSP as telecommunicators can visit the agency's website or contact their nearest KSP post for application information and requirements.
