LEXINGTON, Ky. — Cross country teams from Lafayette High, Mary E. Britton and Liberty earned top team honors at the Area 6 Championships on Oct. 10 at Masterson Station Park, according to a Fayette County Public Schools announcement. Two Fayette County athletes also won individual championships, the district said.

In the boys division, Lafayette High took the top team title in the varsity 5K. Mary E. Britton won the middle school 4K team competition, and Carter Jonesmith of Jessie Clark claimed the individual championship in that race. In the elementary 3K, Liberty was the top team, and Forrest Park of Liberty won the individual title.

In the girls division, Jessie Clark finished first in the middle school 4K team standings. The district's announcement did not list other girls division results.

The Area 6 meet serves as a regional qualifier for athletes across the district's schools, and the district's announcement did not detail the advancement criteria for this year's event. Complete results, including finishing times and placings for every race, are available on MileSplit Kentucky.
