The collection event is set for Saturday, Oct. 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1631 Old Frankfort Pike. Participants should enter via Jimmie Campbell Drive. Household hazardous waste includes paints, cleaners, oils, batteries, pesticides and other chemical products. The city says improper disposal of these materials can pollute air, water or soil and pose a threat to human health. Electronic waste items will also be collected at the event. Officials单独 highlighted vaping products. Vape pens, e-cigarettes and single-use vapes contain lithium-ion batteries, which the city classifies as electronic waste. Those items should not be littered or placed in trash or recycling carts, because they can cause fires. Vape waste containing lithium-ion batteries can be brought to the event for safe disposal. Containers for liquid nicotine that do not contain batteries should be thrown in the trash, never in a recycling cart. Residents who want to check conditions before arriving can follow the city's [Facebook](http://www.facebook.com/livegreenlex) and [Instagram](http://www.instagram.com/livegreenlex) accounts, where event wait times and weather updates will be posted.
