LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lextran will provide modified service with reduced hours on Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, 2025, with 12 routes suspended entirely to mark the holiday.

Lextran, the public transit system serving Lexington, announced that Routes 14 (UK Blue and White), 15 (Red Mile), 16 (Southland Drive), 17 (Northside Connector), 18 (Centre Parkway Connector), 22 (Mercer Road), 24 (Old Frankfort Pike), 27 (UK Yellow) and all night routes (51, 52, 58, and 59) will not operate on the holiday. The remaining routes will continue service on a modified schedule with limited operating hours.

Service on operational routes will begin later in the morning, with the first departures from the Downtown Transit Center at 11 a.m. The modified schedules extend through the evening, with the final departures at 7 p.m. from the transit center.

Lextran offers fare-free riding for all University of Kentucky students, faculty, staff and retirees through the Free City Transit program, which remains available when showing a valid Wildcard ID. The system operates 25 routes throughout Lexington, moving thousands of riders daily across the city.
