LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lextran announced modified holiday schedules for the 2025 season, including free rides on Thanksgiving Day and adjusted service on Christmas and New Year's Day.

Lextran, the public transit authority serving Lexington, will waive fares for all riders on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, as a thank you to customers. The system will operate on a Sunday schedule that day, meaning 11 routes that typically run on Thursdays will not be in service. Affected routes include the UK Blue and White Routes, Southland Drive, Northside Connector, Centre Parkway Connector, Mercer Road, Old Frankfort Pike, and the UK Yellow Route, along with four night routes. Customer service will remain open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and regular service returns Friday, November 28.

Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, will feature modified service with reduced hours rather than the standard schedule. The same 12 routes will be unavailable, with customer service and administrative offices closed December 24-25. Regular operations resume Friday, December 26.

New Year's Day, Thursday, January 1, will follow a Sunday schedule similar to Thanksgiving. The same 11 Thursday-specific routes will not operate, while customer service and administrative offices remain closed. Full service returns Friday, January 2.

Lextran Wheels, the paratransit service for riders with disabilities, will also operate under modified schedules during these holidays. Wheels provides door-to-door transportation for eligible Lexington-Fayette County residents with disabilities.
