LEXINGTON, Ky. — LexTran issued a weather alert on July 21 warning riders to prepare for possible service disruptions as dangerous severe weather threatens the region.

The transit authority cautioned that possible extreme conditions may cause route delays during incoming storms and urged passengers to be prepared to seek shelter if needed. LexTran advised riders to monitor real-time bus locations through the MyStop app or at mystop.lextran.com/InfoPoint.

A level 3-of-5 risk for numerous severe thunderstorms has been placed from the Lexington metro toward northeast along I-64. Mayor Linda Gorton urged residents to proceed with caution as damaging winds, hail, and widespread travel disruptions are all possibilities.

Lexington has placed multiple city divisions on standby, and emergency management officials are coordinating response efforts. The city anticipates possible power outages, trees and limbs down in roadways, and traffic issues.

The most intense line of storms is expected to move through central Kentucky from 5 to 9 p.m., before reaching eastern Kentucky between 9 p.m. and midnight. LexTran said it will provide updates through Facebook, Instagram, Lextran.com, and MyStop app alerts if service interruptions are required.
