LEXINGTON, Ky. — A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged with robbery, assault, wanton endangerment, and gun-related offenses following an armed robbery that occurred on Old Frankfort Pike, according to the Lexington Police Department.

On April 2, 2026, around 10:55 p.m., officers responded to the area of Old Frankfort Pike and Alexandria Drive after being called to assist an individual. Upon arrival, police learned that while the victim and suspect were traveling in a vehicle on Old Frankfort Pike, the suspect pulled over the car and robbed the victim at gunpoint, then physically assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries.

Quantez Canada, 30, was arrested and charged with two counts of assault in the second degree, wanton endangerment in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, terroristic threatening in the third degree, intimidating a participant in the legal process, being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, no or expired registration plates, and buy or possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

Police located Canada's vehicle shortly after the incident using the department's Real-Time Intelligence Center, a technology system that integrates license plate readers, traffic cameras, and other surveillance assets to help locate suspects and solve crimes. The center has been instrumental in helping officers quickly locate wanted individuals and gather evidence across the city.
