The Med Center Health Foundation in Bowling Green has received a $4.2 million donation from the Robert and Mary Tincher Charitable Foundation, one of several charitable donations made by the Tincher Foundation as it prepared to shut down last month, The Daily News reports.

The donation will go toward funding its Guardian Angel program, which helps to provide free or reduced-cost pediatric medical, dental and orthodontic care to children in Bowling Green and Warren County. As part of the donation, the program will be renamed in honor of the Tinchers, The Daily News reports.

“This is the largest gift our foundation has ever received, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to carry forward Robert and Mary Tincher’s legacy of giving back to the community,” Med Center Health head Connie Smith said in a news release.

The release adds that the donation brings the Tinchers’ total support of the  Med Center Health Foundation to almost $6 million.

The Tincher Foundation dispersed nearly $19 million to five local organizations last month. Along with the Med Center, recipients included Western Kentucky University’s College Heights Foundation, the local corps of the Salvation Army, the Boys and Girls Club of Bowling Green and the Southern Kentucky Community and Technical College, The Daily News reports.

Tincher Foundation leaders told WBKO News in early September that the decision to dissolve came down to the board aging and wanting the money distributed by people who personally knew the family.
