The Kentucky House Democratic Caucus and Kentucky Senate Democratic Caucus are hosting a Medicaid listening tour that kicks off in Lexington on Sept. 10.

The first stop of “Medicaid Reality Check: A Health Care Listening Tour” will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Consolidated Baptist Church, 1625 Russell Cave Road in Lexington. The tour will continue in Prestonsburg on Sept. 17, Morehead on Sept. 22 and Louisville on Oct. 1. Full details are available at https://bit.ly/4xjlQ4R.

All the events are free and open to everyone.

With looming changes to the Medicaid program, including new community engagement/work requirements for some and more frequent eligibility revieews, a new release says the event is designed to allow Kentuckians the chance to tell lawmakers directly how Medicaid affects them, their families, their patients and their communities.

“What we learn on this tour will help us understand what these changes actually mean for Kentuckians,” said Senate Democratic Caucus Chair Reginald Thomas of Lexington. “If someone is at risk of losing coverage, struggling to get care or worried about services they depend on, we need to hear from them. Their experiences should help guide how Kentucky responds.”
