Neighborhood of the Week: Chevy Chase
Good Monday morning, Lexington! Hope everyone's having a great start to the week. We're kicking off another Neighborhood of the Week, and today we're strolling through Chevy Chase.
Oh, this is one of those places that just feels like classic Lexington, isn't it? You've got these beautiful tree-lined streets with stately brick homes, and it's tucked right there east of U-K campus.
Exactly. The boundaries run from Euclid Avenue up north down to Romany Road in the south, with Cooper Drive on the east side and Henry Clay Boulevard to the west. It's this perfect little pocket.
And Sarah, what I love about Chevy Chase is how it's got this wonderful mix. You've got these gorgeous residential streets, but then you hit that little retail strip that really delivers.
Right! Like High on Rose, which has become such a go-to spot for folks all over the city. That whole strip just punches way above its weight for such a small area.
The neighborhood really came together back in the nineteen thirties, and you can see that in the architecture. There's this cohesive feel to everything.
Absolutely. It's definitely become one of the most sought-after areas in Lexington. Upper-middle-class families really gravitate here, and I can see why.
The location doesn't hurt either. You're close to the university, you've got easy access to downtown, but you still feel like you're in this peaceful residential enclave.
And there's Stella's Kentucky Deli for when you want that perfect sandwich, plus the Chevy Chase Branch Library right there in the neighborhood.
Don't forget the Chevy Chase Inn! That's been a landmark for years.
Such a solid neighborhood. Great walkability, beautiful homes, and that sense of community you really want.
