Oak Grove, Hopkinsville set fourth straight tourism record in 2025
Oak Grove, Hopkinsville and Christian County are celebrating record-breaking visitor spending for the fourth consecutive year, according to recently released tourism economic impact data highlighted by local tourism officials.
Christian County's visitor spending reached $245 million in 2025, up $1.6 million from 2024, supporting 1,798 tourism-related jobs and generating $47.3 million in labor income and $16.4 million in state and local taxes. The growth reflects sustained momentum across Western Kentucky's premier tourism destinations.
The success mirrors a statewide trend. Kentucky achieved another record-breaking year for tourism in 2025, generating more than $14.6 billion in economic impact statewide and supporting over 96,993 jobs, marking the fourth consecutive record year for the state.
Traci Cunningham, Oak Grove Tourism Executive Director, attributed the county's performance to community collaboration. "Tourism remains one of the most important economic drivers in our community," Cunningham said. "The continued growth we are experiencing is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of the Oak Grove Tourism team, our local businesses, city leaders, and residents who help create memorable experiences for visitors every day."
Oak Grove draws visitors through award-winning festivals including the Butterfly Festival and Bourbon & Wine Festival, along with attractions such as Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel. Visit Hopkinsville Executive Director Amy Rogers echoed the enthusiasm. "To break tourism records four years in a row is nothing short of extraordinary," Rogers said, attributing success to the team's commitment to showcasing the city's heritage as the Batter Capital of the World and its unique local character.
Tourism-generated dollars benefit hotels, restaurants, retail businesses and local attractions throughout the region, supporting essential services and reducing tax burden on residents. The achievement demonstrates that sustained investment in tourism experiences and marketing initiatives strengthens the region's position as a premier Western Kentucky destination.
