Over on R Lexington right now, people are talking about some really heartwarming community support. Someone from Arizona is asking for gift ideas for family members keeping vigil at U-K Hospital, where their cousin is in the I-C-U in a medical coma.
Oh, that's tough. The responses are so thoughtful though. A nurse at the hospital chimed in saying food delivery gift cards would be perfect because families are exhausted and the last thing they want to worry about is getting a meal.
Right, and several folks mentioned that U-K actually has a really good cafeteria, so even a general gift card they could use there would help. One person who went through a similar experience suggested comfort items too, like blankets and cozy clothes, since those I-C-U rooms get pretty cold.
There's also a sweet story about cat rescue. A Lexington resident is looking for a home for Lola, a three-year-old cat they rescued over Christmas. She was a sick community cat who probably wouldn't have survived the winter outdoors.
They brought her back here, got her all fixed up at the vet, and now she's apparently a total love bug who just wants attention and cuddles. The comments are full of people asking about meet and greets and making sure she goes to the right home.
One commenter made a really good point about requiring an adoption fee to make sure she doesn't end up with anyone who might cause harm. That's smart thinking. That's what Lexington neighbors are talking about this morning.
