UK hosts leadership development seminar for faculty, staff
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky Leadership Development Collaborative and Leadership Advisory Council are hosting a faculty and staff seminar Wednesday aimed at helping educators integrate leadership skills into their courses across all disciplines.
The UK Faculty and Staff Leadership Development Seminar will take place from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Lewis Scholars Lounge. Now in its second year, the program is titled "Engaging Students in Leadership Skills Across the Curriculum."
The seminar addresses one of the 10 essential skills outlined in the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education's Graduate Profile, a statewide framework designed to align the knowledge and skills students gain in college with workforce demands. The initiative supports UK's ongoing effort to prepare students to transform their talents and discoveries into real-world impact.
Representatives from UK's Graduate Profile team, Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness, and Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching will lead an interactive workshop on integrating and assessing leadership skills across diverse academic disciplines.
Panelists include Trey Conatser, Ph.D., assistant provost for teaching and learning and director of CELT; Brandi Frisby, Ph.D., associate provost for academic affairs; Shawna Felkins, Ph.D., senior faculty and instructional consultant at CELT; Ania Peczalska, Ph.D., director of institutional effectiveness; and Beth Garvy, Ph.D., professor and senior associate dean for biomedical education at the College of Medicine.
The University of Kentucky Leadership Development Collaborative is funded by the UK Office of the Provost's Institutional Multidisciplinary Paradigm to Accelerate Collaboration and Transformation Awards. Faculty and staff interested in attending can register online.
