UK opens presale for renewing commuter parking permits
LEXINGTON, Ky. — University of Kentucky students who held commuter parking permits last academic year can now renew them during a presale window, according to an announcement from UK News.
The presale window for renewing commuter students continues through 5 p.m. on July 17. Students who had a C5, C9 (now called C30), C29, C40 or C41 permit during the previous academic year can renew the same permit type during this period. For example, students who held a C5 permit last spring may only renew a C5 permit.
Commuter permits cost $336 per academic year and are only available for purchase for the full eight-month academic year. The permits are restricted to students with 60 or more credit hours.
Students should note that commuter permits do not authorize overnight parking on campus without prior authorization from UK Transportation Services. Permit holders can park in their designated areas and in commuter periphery (CK) lots. Commuter permit holders may also park in employee intermediate and core lots after 3:30 p.m. on weekdays.
To purchase a permit online, students log in to their customer account using their LinkBlue ID and password. They will need the vehicle's make, model, color, state and license plate number. Permits purchased online can be mailed to a home address or picked up in person at the customer service center at 721 Press Ave. Regular office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with an exterior express window opening at 6:30 a.m. on weekdays. Students planning to pick up permits should allow one full business day for processing.
Beginning 9 a.m. on July 22, commuter permit sales will open to all remaining eligible commuter students and will continue until permits are sold out. Commuter lots will go on control for designated permits beginning Aug. 22.
Individuals who held a commuter periphery (CK) permit last year should be aware that sales for periphery permit types will start later this summer. All outstanding parking citations must be paid before a permit purchase can be processed. For more information, students can contact UK Transportation Services or call 859-257-5757.
