LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky's Launch Blue initiative has opened applications for its Fall 2026 UAccel + UAccel Healthcare Innovation Corps program, a six-week virtual training program designed to help researchers, innovators and early-stage entrepreneurs commercialize their ideas.

The program, based on the National Science Foundation's Innovation Corps framework, guides participants through customer discovery and evidence-based entrepreneurship to evaluate market opportunities for their innovations. Applications are due Aug. 21, with the cohort running from Sept. 11 through Nov. 6.

"Our mission is to help innovators build solutions that matter," said Laura Russell-Halligan, executive director and lead instructor for Launch Blue, according to a university announcement. "When researchers combine scientific discovery with a deep understanding of real-world needs, they're better equipped to create innovations that improve lives, strengthen industries and drive economic growth."

The Fall cohort includes a dedicated Healthcare track offering specialized curriculum, mentors and guest speakers for innovators developing health care technologies. Through the six-week program, participants conduct customer discovery interviews, refine value propositions and explore commercialization strategies with guidance from experienced instructors, entrepreneurs and industry mentors.

Launch Blue, a University of Kentucky-based accelerator, is open to faculty, staff, students and community innovators from all disciplines with no prior entrepreneurial experience required. The program helps participants determine whether their best path forward is launching a startup, licensing technology or strengthening future grant proposals.

The program is organized in partnership with UK Innovate and Kentucky Commercialization Ventures. UK is a member of the NSF's Mid-South I-Corps Hub, which supports researchers across multiple states in translating inventions into viable commercial products and services.
