UK students model anatomy-themed fashions to benefit children's hospital
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The premedical chapter of University of Kentucky's Phi Delta Epsilon medical fraternity hosted its annual Anatomy Fashion Show on April 11 at Central Bank Center, raising $9,300 for pediatric care.
Fifty-eight UK students walked the runway in painted bodysuits showcasing different body systems, medical conditions and anatomical features. Each model selected their own walkout song, creating whimsical pairings such as an aging body displayed to "Forever Young," a twin pregnancy to "Baby Mama Dance," and a thermal body heat scale to "Hot in Herre."
The event benefitted Children's Miracle Network and Golisano Children's at UK. The funds raised support unrestricted needs at the children's hospital, including medical equipment and treatments for young patients.
The emotional highlight came when Sera Davis, a 12-year-old kidney transplant recipient from Golisano Children's at UK, walked the runway in a bodysuit featuring kidney illustrations. Davis received her lifesaving transplant in 2024 after treatment at the hospital since birth. She walked to her favorite song, "Circus" by Britney Spears.
"Tonight, you're not just watching something beautiful; you're witnessing a miracle in motion," said Hali Davis, Sera's mother. "Every step down the runway represents a story like Sera's — a story of courage, community and second chances."
Children's Miracle Network has contributed over $5 billion to hospitals nationwide since beginning operations in 1983. Golisano Children's at UK receives more than $1 million annually from CMN partnerships, supporting life-saving treatments, research and pediatric medical equipment. The event also included a silent auction featuring items donated by local businesses.
