UK women's golf tied for 6th after second round at Folds of Honor
GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — The University of Kentucky women's golf team improved its position and sharpened its scoring on the second day of the Folds of Honor Collegiate, posting a 4-over-par 292 to move into a tie for sixth place among 12 teams competing at American Dunes Golf Club.
The Wildcats, ranked 31st nationally, shot 296 in Monday's first round before trimming four strokes off that total Tuesday. Kentucky stands 10 shots outside the top three and 17 shots behind leader Kansas, which holds a 5-under-par 571 tournament total.
Senior Cathryn Brown of Eddyville maintained her steady pace with consecutive even-par 72s, bringing her tournament total to 144 and moving her up one spot to tie for 11th individually. Brown, the stroke-average leader from last season at 72.1, is now just four shots behind the individual leader. The second-round score marked the 43rd consecutive round in which her score has contributed to the team total, a streak dating to her sophomore season in spring 2025.
Junior Isabella Johnson, who transferred from Middle Tennessee, recorded her second consecutive tournament appearance with a 1-over 73, placing her at 4-over 148 and tied for 27th individually. Junior C.A. Carter matched Johnson's 148 total to also tie for 27th after posting a 72 on Tuesday.
Senior Brooke Oberparleiter showed marked improvement in her second round back in competition after recovering from injury. She posted a 1-over 73 after struggling with a 6-over 78 on Monday, climbing to a tie for 35th overall at 7-over 151. Brown and Carter each recorded an eagle on the par-5 No. 13, with Oberparleiter adding a birdie on the hole.
The tournament benefits the Folds of Honor, a nonprofit providing educational scholarships to the families of military members who have fallen or been disabled. Kentucky finished third in the event last year after producing the individual medalist.
The final round is scheduled for Wednesday on Golf Channel, which will broadcast from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. ET.
