LEXINGTON, Ky. — A woman was arrested Wednesday night after firing a shot into the roof of a Lextran bus during an altercation with another passenger, according to the Lexington Police Department.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:51 p.m. on April 1, 2026, at the intersection of La Salle Road and Asbury Lane. Officers responding to reports of shots fired learned that the suspect had become involved in a dispute with a fellow passenger before discharging a weapon inside the bus. No injuries were reported from the incident.

Paris Hilliard, 49, was arrested at the scene and charged with eight counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. She is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

Lextran, the city's transit authority, operates more than 900 bus stops throughout Lexington and has implemented various safety measures across its fleet. The incident represents a rare but serious breach of security aboard the public transportation system that serves thousands of Lexington residents daily.
