LEXINGTON, Ky. — A 31-year-old woman was arrested and charged following a shots fired incident that occurred Wednesday afternoon in the 2500 block of Danielle Lane, according to a statement from the Lexington Police Department.

Officers responded around 12:15 p.m. March 18 after receiving a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, police located shell casings in the roadway. Officers learned that the victim and suspect had been engaged in a disorder when the suspect discharged a firearm toward the victim's residence.

Chelsey Engle was arrested and charged with three counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Assault 4th Degree, and Discharging a Firearm within Urban County limits. She is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center pending court proceedings.

The charges carry significant penalties under Kentucky law. Wanton endangerment in the first degree is classified as a Class C felony when a firearm is discharged, carrying a potential sentence of five to 10 years in prison. The statute applies when a person engages in conduct that creates a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to another person under circumstances showing extreme indifference to the value of human life.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. The case remains under investigation by the Lexington Police Department.
