Woman killed in I-64 crash near Versailles
VERSAILLES, Ky. — A 36-year-old Versailles woman died Thursday after her SUV struck a semi-truck on Interstate 64 in Woodford County, according to Kentucky State Police Post 12.
Christine Wilson was driving a white GMC Yukon westbound in the right lane near the 61 mile-marker when the collision occurred at approximately 9:46 a.m. on September 17. Investigators determined Wilson struck the rear of a semi tractor-trailer as traffic slowed due to construction work ahead.
Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck operator, 47-year-old James Calvin of Wentzville, Missouri, sustained no life-threatening injuries.
Both westbound lanes of I-64 were closed while Kentucky State Police processed the scene. The roadway reopened after responding personnel cleared the area.
Detective Brandon Crabtree is conducting a collision reconstruction. Trooper Shawn Rodriguez is handling the death investigation. Woodford County Fire and EMS assisted at the scene, along with additional KSP personnel.
The investigation remains ongoing and preliminary.
