Applications for Community Health Improvement Grants open through Sept. 18
The three CommonSpirit Saint Joseph Hospitals in Lexington are accepting applications for local nonprofit organizations to apply for grants aimed at working to improve the health and well-being of communities in their service areas.
The Community Health Improvement Grants program supports organizations to help address significant needs identified in the hospitals’ most recent community health needs assessments. This year, the Lexington CommonSpirit hospitals are accepting grant proposals that address mental health, substance use and nutrition, physical activity and weight.
The application period is open through Friday, Sept. 18. Organizations selected for funding will be notified in January 2027, with grants supporting projects from April 2027 to March 2028.
According to the program overview, grant awards have minimum and maximum amounts specific to each hospital or cluster, within the categories of small grants (up to $19,500) and standard grants (from $20,000 to as much as $150,000).
“At CommonSpirit Health, we are committed to a healthier future for all and addressing the unique needs of our neighbors,” said Terry Wooten, president, Saint Joseph Hospital – Lexington. “Our mission calls out a special focus on serving the vulnerable, and we are excited to partner with local organizations that are advancing well-being and health equity across the area.”
Saint Joseph Hospitals in Kentucky incorporated CommonSpirit into their names last week.
The Lexington hospitals include: CommonSpirit – Saint Joseph Hospital – Lexington, CommonSpirit – Saint Joseph Medical Center – East Lexington and CommonSpirit – Continuing Care Hospital – Lexington.
