LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Board of Architectural Review is scheduled to meet on July 22 to consider dozens of projects across Lexington's historic districts, according to the meeting agenda. The board will review 37 staff-approved projects and 8 Certificate of Appropriateness applications requiring fuller board consideration.

The Board of Architectural Review holds public hearings to review applications for exterior changes to properties located in any of the Local Historic Districts (H-1 Overlay Zone) requiring a Certificate of Appropriateness Permit. Projects scheduled for consideration Tuesday span multiple districts including Ashland Park, Aylesford, Bell Court, Elsmere Park, Northside, Pensacola Park, Seven Parks, South Hill, and Western Suburbs.

Staff-approved items account for the majority of the agenda. Projects include routine maintenance and repairs such as roof replacements, window work, driveway renovation, and tree removal across the historic districts. Among the more substantial proposals scheduled for fuller board review are a fireplace construction at 215 Desha Road in Ashland Park and the demolition and reconstruction of a two-story structure at 371 Linden Walk in Aylesford following fire loss.

Lexington has had local historic districts since the mid-1950s. Since that time, fifteen districts and two landmarks have been so designated and are under the jurisdiction of the Board of Architectural Review. The board also will consider a conceptual review item for a proposed addition and site work at 533 East Main Street in the Bell Court Historic District.

The meeting is open to the public and scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Council Chamber in the Government Center, 200 E. Main St.
