A viewer in Hartland is asking about polling locations for next Tuesday's primary. With voter registration numbers rising before the May primary, where are the polling locations in Fayette County, and have any of them changed since the last election?
Great question, and the timing couldn't be better since Primary Election Day is Tuesday, May nineteenth, twenty twenty-six. Here's what makes this election particularly convenient for Fayette County voters. You can cast your vote at your designated precinct or any of the six Lexington Public Library locations, which is a nice change from past years when you were locked into just your home precinct.
So that's new? The library voting centers?
For May twenty twenty-six, Voting Centers are located in all branches of the Lexington Public Library. All six Lexington Public Libraries will be Voting Centers for No-Excuse Early Voting May fourteenth, fifteenth, sixteenth, eight thirty a.m. to four thirty p.m. and Election Day, six a.m. to six p.m. So if you're stuck at work downtown but live way out on the east side, you can just pop into Central Library on Main Street instead of driving across town.
And the precinct locations themselves, any changes there?
Precinct polling locations for the May Primary will be available April nineteenth, twenty twenty-six. Now, what's helpful is that you will receive a notice in the mail from the County Clerk with your precinct name and voting location address. The best way to double-check your specific location is to visit govote dot ky dot gov, especially if you've moved recently. On election day, polls will be open from six a.m. to six p.m. Bring your driver's license or any qualifying I.D. for a fast and easy check-in.
And for folks who can't make it Tuesday?
Early Voting is available to any registered voter in Fayette County. Early voting will be conducted on Thursday, May fourteenth, Friday, May fifteenth and Saturday, May sixteenth. That's happening at all six library branches. And remember, the voter registration deadline already passed on April twentieth, so make sure you're registered if you want to participate.
