A new round of hospital safety grades from the Leapfrog Group, released this spring of twenty twenty-six, shows Kentucky ranking twenty-second in the nation for the share of its hospitals earning top marks. That is a meaningful recovery for the state, which had previously fallen as low as thirty-sixth place in that same ranking.

The Leapfrog Group evaluates hospitals twice a year, assigning letter grades based on how well they protect patients from errors, injuries, and infections. Earning an A grade is considered the highest mark a hospital can receive.
