Cumulus Media, FCPS launch 'Stuff the Bus' drive for school supplies
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Cumulus Media is partnering with Fayette County Public Schools to collect school supplies for students preparing for the 2026-27 academic year through the annual "Stuff the Bus!" drive.
The initiative launches Saturday, Aug. 8, with an in-person donation event at Paul Miller Ford on East New Circle Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The "Stuff the Bus!" drive aims to ensure students have essential materials to start the school year equipped with classroom supplies.
The district is seeking commonly needed items including backpacks without wheels, composition and spiral notebooks, colored markers and pencils, disinfectant wipes, dry-erase markers, earbuds and headphones, graphing paper, pencil boxes, Post-it Notes, plastic two-pocket folders, and tissues.
Residents can participate in three ways: drop off new supplies at the Saturday event, donate online through the Fayette Education Foundation, or purchase items from an Amazon wish list for direct delivery to the program. A $20 donation provides a backpack and supplies for one student.
The initiative comes as families prepare for the new school year, with the first day of classes scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 12. The partnership between Cumulus Media and FCPS demonstrates ongoing community support for students during back-to-school season.
