LEXINGTON, Ky. — High school golf teams from across Fayette County Public Schools competed Sept. 16 in the annual FCPS Cup at Tates Creek Golf Course, with Henry Clay's boys defending their championship and Frederick Douglass's girls extending their dominance to a third consecutive title.

The Henry Clay boys team shot a 286 to claim first place, edging runner-up Frederick Douglass's 288. In individual competition, Anderson Lang of Douglass fired a 67 to win the boys' championship after prevailing on the first playoff hole against Carson Nicholas of Henry Clay, who also shot 67. Jacob Santos Lopez of Henry Clay finished third with a 70.

The Frederick Douglass girls' team dominated their division, posting a 311 to finish well ahead of runner-up Paul Laurence Dunbar's 411. Willa Borough of Douglass led all individual competitors with a 65 to claim the girls' championship. Her teammates Sarah Terry and Candice Tanmas completed a strong showing for Douglass, finishing second and third with rounds of 78 and 79 respectively.

The FCPS Cup is one of the district's premier athletic competitions, bringing together high school golfers from across the Lexington area to compete for team and individual honors.
