Delta restores Saturday Minneapolis flights at Blue Grass Airport
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Blue Grass Airport is launching seasonal Saturday non-stop flights to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, restoring a popular route that had been suspended since 2021.
The service begins Saturday and will run through Aug. 8, operating on a 76-seat CRJ-900 aircraft operated by Delta Air Lines. Tickets are available at www.delta.com.
The reinstatement of the Minneapolis route reflects continued expansion at Blue Grass Airport, which in 2025 set a record with 1,614,053 passengers, surpassing the previous year's record. The growth reflects broader network development that includes increased frequency to major hubs and new leisure destinations.
"Restoring this seasonal route gives our travelers even more flexibility and convenience, whether they're connecting to destinations across the upper Midwest and beyond or welcoming visitors to the Bluegrass region," said Eric Frankl, president and CEO of Blue Grass Airport. "This added service reflects the continued demand and strength of our market."
As a major hub, Minneapolis-Saint Paul offers Lexington travelers convenient connections westbound and internationally. Popular destinations from the Minneapolis hub include the West Coast, Canada and Asia, making it easier for both business and leisure travelers during the busy summer season.
The airport continues to benefit from broader service expansions. In June, Delta added a second daily flight to New York LaGuardia, and the airport began a $17.8 million parking expansion project to accommodate growing demand. The airport supports approximately 4,745 jobs and generates more than $709 million in economic output regionally.
